Army Software Factory
Due to the confidential nature of the projects I worked on at the Army Software Factory, I can’t display images and I can only describe them on a high level. But here’s a summary of my experience and some project highlights:
For the past 2 and a half years I’ve been a Product Design Consultant for the Army Software Factory. I mentor new designers during the first 6 months of their work on a real-world Army application. I've worked on 7 applications so far, across multiple platforms and audiences. I traveled to Army bases with small teams numerous times to conduct in-person user interviews and usability tests. I taught the principles of lean and agile while working on fast build-measure-learn cycles, facilitated synthesis and brainstorming sessions, presented mock-ups and prototypes to users and stakeholders, and continued delivering improvements based on user feedback after the initial lean release.
A responsive web app helping soldiers choose their best course of action based on their answers to a series of questions.
An Android app allowing soldiers to perform complicated calculations by filling in a form template. The resulting data is displayed in a color-coded format enabling commanders to make fast decisions.
A feature added to a desktop app allowing soldiers to make custom lists that they can edit as needed in order to speed up a formerly tedious process.
